Why choose AMSK

Construction management you can audit. Culture you can be proud of.

AMSK is graded, certified and registered with every authority that matters for civil construction in Sri Lanka. But the harder thing to certify, the standards we hold inside the company, is what makes the rest stick.

01. Sound construction management

A construction practice you can audit.

AMSK runs on engineering management fundamentals: value engineering, total quality management, sustainable development, stakeholder management, sophisticated project planning and control. The strength of our engineering team, and the leadership of the Managing Director , means we don't just deliver tendered scope; we can undertake integrated procurement routes such as design-and-build and turnkey contracts.

Frequent adoption of the latest advancements in information technology and finance management keeps AMSK on the cutting edge of a rapidly developing industrial landscape.

02. Our culture for human resources

Three principles, taken seriously.

Employment isn't just a paycheck. Given how much time people spend at work, a good fit between employer and employee culture matters. Here is the AMSK culture, in three principles we won't compromise on.

  • 01

    No place for discrimination

Human resources are AMSK's most important resource. A dedicated HR department exists in part to ensure no discrimination of any form persists at any site. Where a project manager or department head flags a concern, the matter is resolved immediately with measures that protect the dignity of the people involved.

  • 02

    Ethnic harmony

AMSK has practised ethnic diversity since its founding, with Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim team members across every project. Friendliness and teamwork have always been enhanced, never diminished, by that diversity.

  • 03

A place for the physically challenged

Several employees with physical challenges work at AMSK in roles that match their skills, experience and ambitions. They are fully empowered to excel in their job regardless of physical challenge.

03. Sustainable development

Triple bottom line, not a brochure.

Sustainability is one of the busiest buzzwords in construction. AMSK treats it as the triple bottom line: environment, economy, society. Three concrete objectives, all measurable.

01

Environmental footprint reduction

Reduce energy usage, implement alternative renewable sources, reduce fossil-fuel dependence, recycle waste through innovative methods, and plant trees and shrubs along road stretches and other infrastructure we build.

02

Contribution to the national economy

Generate more opportunities for professionals, technicians and workmen by acquiring unprecedented-scale construction work, through traditional procurement and via design-and-build, turnkey, management contracting, and public-private partnerships.

03

Contribution to society

Help children whose education is limited by their parents' financial circumstances; contribute to community-developed projects; aid the most poverty-stricken citizens to build a shelter. CSR not as PR, but as ongoing work.

04. Health and safety

A safety culture, certified by SLSI.

Work-related accidents have been very scarce in AMSK's construction journey. The OHSAS 18001:2007 certification from Sri Lanka Standards Institution (January 2019) is the formal recognition.

01

Strict PPE protocol

All employees adhere to personal protective equipment requirements without exception across every site.

02

Site safety meetings

Regular safety meetings keep crew and supervision aligned on risks specific to the current phase of work.

03

Risk assessment before complex works

Structural and other complex works are preceded by a written risk assessment that drives the method statement.

04

OHSAS 18001:2007 certified

Acquired the international occupational health and safety standard from Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) in January 2019.

05. Corporate social responsibility

Contribution to the neighbourhood, not the brochure.

As a Madampe-headquartered firm, AMSK takes its neighbourhood seriously. Four ongoing initiatives back that up.

01

Karaulla Temple dagoba

Located near AMSK's Madampe head office, the Karaulla Temple needed a dagoba. The Managing Director responded by contributing finance and the engineering expertise of AMSK's best minds. Multiple firms had turned down the project before AMSK took it on.

02

Annual blood donation programmes

AMSK organizes annual blood donations in partnership with neighbouring communities, hundreds of citizens have benefited.

03

1,200+ jobs for neighbouring communities

Across the head office and active projects, AMSK has created over 1,200 employment opportunities for surrounding communities. No other firm in the Madampe region has matched that scale of local employment.

04

Stationery for employees' children

An annual tradition: AMSK distributes school stationery to the children of every employee, most of whom live in neighbouring societies.

06. Company registrations

Every authority that matters for civil construction in Sri Lanka.

CIDA CS-1

Supra grade for Highways construction.

CIDA C-1

Building & Highway Construction (acquired 2010, on first attempt).

CIDA C-8271
