Overview

What this discipline looks like at AMSK.

Road construction is AMSK's deepest discipline. From the 4.5km Halpanwila to Walahapitiya rural reconstruction to the Improvement of B-10 National Road in Trincomalee under the integrated infrastructure programme, our crews have surfaced every road class Sri Lanka publishes.

We work as both lead contractor and as JV partner. We have integrated cleanly with China Gezhouba Group, China Harbour Engineering, VVK, Tellhow International and XI'AN Dagang Road Machinery on contracts that exceeded the scale of single-firm delivery. Foreign engineering teams choose AMSK because we match their quality standards while bringing local-procurement, local-labour and local-permitting depth they cannot replicate from outside.

AMSK owns two asphalt batching plants (Bibile 100 tons/hour, Ampara 150 tons/hour) and four concrete batching plants — meaning the surfacing and structural concrete for any contract is produced on equipment we operate, transported on vehicles we own, and placed by crews on our payroll. This is what we mean by self-performed delivery.

Our approach

Four principles, applied to every contract.

How we structure a roads & highways programme from first survey to defects liability handover.

01. Plan to the spec, then beyond it

Every contract starts with a written method statement against the employer's specification. Our engineering team then adds programme contingency: weather risk, sub-base variation, supply-chain alternates.

02. Self-perform the critical path

Asphalt batching, aggregate crushing, structural concrete, RCC drainage, embankment — all delivered by AMSK plant and crews. No surprises from subbed scope.

03. Audit-ready quality records

ISO 9001:2015 quality management runs across every site. Mix designs, density tests, level surveys and as-built drawings are produced and submitted on the cadence the resident engineer expects.

04. Handover with 12 months DLP

Standard defects-liability period. We staff post-handover snagging from our own resources rather than dropping it on the client.

Standards we work to

The specifications, codes and quality regimes behind every delivery.

  • RDA Standard Specification for Construction & Maintenance of Roads & Bridges (SSCM)
  • ICTAD Specifications
  • ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management)
  • ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management)
  • OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational H&S)
